Who is Ken Jennings
Ken Jennings is an American game show contestant, author, and software engineer. He is best known for his record-breaking 74-game winning streak on the popular game show Jeopardy! in 2004. Jennings was born on May 23, 1974, in Edmonds, Washington. He grew up in Seoul, South Korea, where his father worked as an attorney for the U.S. Department of State.
Jennings attended Brigham Young University, where he studied computer science and English. He became interested in trivia and game shows at a young age, and would often watch Jeopardy! with his family. In 2004, he decided to audition for the show and was selected as a contestant.
Jennings made his debut on Jeopardy! on June 2, 2004, and quickly gained popularity for his extensive knowledge and quick reflexes. He went on to win 74 consecutive games, earning a total of $2.52 million in prize money, making him the highest-earning contestant in the history of American game shows.
Jennings’ record-breaking streak came to an end on November 30, 2004, when he was defeated by contestant Nancy Zerg. However, he returned to the show for various tournaments and special events, and has won a total of $3.4 million in Jeopardy! winnings.
Aside from his success on Jeopardy!, Jennings has also appeared on other game shows such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?. He has also written several books, including the best-selling trivia book “Brainiac: Adventures in the Curious, Competitive, Compulsive World of Trivia Buffs.”
In addition to his game show career, Jennings is also a software engineer and has worked for companies such as Microsoft and Google. He is married with two children and currently resides in Seattle, Washington.
